This is a basic game that simply encourages players to begin getting some loft on their shots. Before playing it, talk to them about striking the ball on the bottom half in an attempt to have it elevate off of the surface. Let them practice this on the open field for awhile first.
To play this game, set up as many cones as you have on the goal line. The object is simply to make a shot on goal without knocking any cones down by shooting the ball over them ("carrying the cones"). I have to admit that this one is not terribly exciting, but it's an excellent demonstration of the concept which your players will pick up quickly.
Once the game is mastered, you can reuse the phrase "carry the cones" in other shooting games, scrimmages, and on game day, and your players will know exactly what you are talking about.
