Welcome to SoccerForCoaches.com. I have developed this site to serve as a resource for soccer coaches of kids of all ages. Having played and loved the sport of soccer for more than 30 years, and more recently passing on the joy of the game to my children as their coach, I learned quickly that good information to assist youth soccer coaches was hard to find. So after more years of experience as a youth soccer coach, I decided it would be fun to create this site in the hopes that both new and experienced soccer coaches alike would find it a useful aid and resource. My goal is twofold: first, to share everything I have learned through my coaching experiences; and second, to encourage other coaches out there to ask questions and share their own ideas and suggestions. I think it will be well worthwhile.

If you are a new coach, I'd recommend that you begin in the "Getting Started" section. Here you'll find everything you need to run your team, including how to organize the season, run your practices, and handle game day. If you've never played the game before, or even if you've played for years, coaching is not the same as playing, and especially with younger players you'll want to be prepared.

For all coaches, whether new or not, you can never have enough variety in your practices. So to offer a "database" of skills exercises for you to use, visit the "Practice Games! (Not Drills)" section of this website. Notice we're calling them Games, and not Drills. Long gone in today's coaching are the laps, lines, and lectures you may recall from when you were a young player. MUCH more effective is a "Games Approach" to learning soccer. By playing fun, creative games during practices, your players will maintain a higher level of energy, focus, and attention. They'll almost be learning the sport of soccer without even knowing it!

Finally, I've included a list of great articles and learning points in the section called "More Great Info". Some of these are short, while some are long, but each contains important lessons as you continually improve as a coach.

I hope you enjoy the information on this website. Content will be regularly added, and we sincerely welcome all suggestions and feedback. If you have some lessons or practice games that you'd like to share, please let us know! Just email us at info@soccerforcoaches.com. Thanks for visiting us!
